Old Pulteney – 12 Year Old The Maritime Malt (70cl, 40%)

Old Pulteney 12 Year Old, known as The Maritime Malt, is a Highland single malt from the distillery at Wick on the Caithness coast. It is matured entirely in hand-selected, air-dried ex-bourbon casks, mostly second-fill American oak, and bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. The sea air is said to give the whisky a salty, coastal character. It is unpeated. The nose has fresh sea air, citrus, vanilla and light honey. The palate brings a salty top note, soft citrus, dark caramel and creamy vanilla. The finish is medium in length, clean and gently sweet, with a touch of salt.
