Old Pulteney – Coastal Series Port Cask (70cl, 46%)

Old Pulteney Port Cask is a Highland single malt from the distillery's Coastal Series, bottled by the distillery at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is the second release in the series, which pairs the distillery's spirit with casks from other drinks made in coastal places. The whisky is matured first in ex-bourbon casks, then finished in ruby port pipes and barriques. The nose is rich with sultana sweetness, vanilla, butter, candied orange peel and gingerbread, with cherries, marzipan and dark chocolate underneath. The palate is sweet and spicy, with baked apple, caramelised sugar, cinnamon pastry, vanilla custard and a touch of rose water. The finish is fruity and warming, with spice and plum jam sweetness.
