A single malt from Old Pulteney, distilled in Wick on the Caithness coast, in a 70cl bottle at 46%. Huddart takes its name from Huddart Street, where the distillery stands, and from Captain Joseph Huddart, the hydrographer who charted waters for the British Fisheries Society.
It matured in second-fill American oak ex-bourbon casks and was then finished in casks that previously held peated whisky, which adds a gentle smoke to the distillery's coastal character.
The nose offers mellow wood smoke, honey, oily leather and soft wood spice. The palate has crisp green apple, vanilla cream, burnt toffee and freshly ground spice, with light peat smoke. The finish is long and smoky, with salted caramel and a light briny note.
