Old Pulteney – Pineau des Charentes

This Old Pulteney single malt was matured in American oak barrels and then finished in Pineau des Charentes casks made from French oak. It is the first release in the Coastal Series. The nose is rich and fragrant, with honey sweetness and vanilla, then jammy cooked fruit that moves towards candied orange and sticky balsamic raisins, with roasted spice and pepper. The palate offers caramelised hazelnuts and spice, followed by a pleasing sweetness. The finish ends dry, with a savoury hint of coastal minerality.
