Old Pulteney – Port Cask Coastal Series (70cl)

Old Pulteney Port is the second expression in the Coastal Series, a single malt from Wick in the Scottish Highlands. The whisky is first matured in American oak on the Caithness coast, then moved into hand-selected Ruby Port pipes and barriques from Portugal's Douro Valley. It is described as a fragrant, fruity Maritime Malt, with coastal minerality set against sweet and spicy notes. The colour is rose gold with peach highlights. The nose brings dried fruits, sultanas, buttery vanilla and candied orange peel, with gingerbread, cherries, marzipan and dark chocolate beneath. On the palate come baked apples, caramelised sugar, cinnamon pastries, vanilla custard and rose water, then warm spices and plum jam. The finish is long and smooth.
