Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve is a 13-year-old rye whiskey from the Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery in Kentucky, bottled at 47.8% (95.6 proof) in a 750ml bottle. It is a deep, tawny copper in colour.
On the nose there are strong caramel aromas with spice and sweet tobacco. The palate opens smooth and broad, then turns medium to full-bodied, with roasted nuts, sweet toffee and leather. The finish is long, with white pepper, spice and dried fruit.
