This is a 5 year old Kentucky straight bourbon from Peerless, bottled as a single barrel by the SMWS in 2021 at 55.8% ABV. It is a rye-heavy bourbon, and 185 bottles were filled.
After three years in a charred virgin oak barrel, the whiskey was moved into a second virgin oak barrel because the first was leaking, which gives the double oak character.
The nose opens with cinnamon chewing gum, charred coconut flakes, buttered popcorn and orange oil. The palate brings sticky ginger cake, cranberry jam and strong stewed Assam tea.
