Peerless Toasted Rye is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey from Kentucky Peerless Distilling Co. in Louisville, made with a sweet mash. This is Batch 50, bottled at 53.5% (107 proof) in a 750ml bottle.
The rye is aged first in char level 3 barrels, then finished in custom barrels that are toasted rather than charred. It is bottled at barrel proof with no water added, and it is non-chill-filtered.
The nose offers buttered French toast, warm caramel, salted taffy and toasted marshmallow. On the palate come cinnamon sugar, toasted orange peel, dried fruit, clove and vanilla cream. The finish is long, warming and gently sweet, with toasted oak and baking spice.
