Pfaffl Zweigelt Sandstein

Zweigelt Sandstein is a red wine from Pfaffl, made entirely from Zweigelt grown in the In Neubergen vineyard. It sits on a south-facing slope looking over the Korneuburg Basin, on soil of marl and sandstone, with vines around 22 years old. The must ferments for 23 days at 28°C in stainless steel. Half the wine is then aged in steel and half in used oak, and it is bottled after three months. Ruby red in colour, it smells mainly of cherry with a hint of smoke. The palate is round and fruity, and crisp tannins give it a spicy edge.
