A Grande Champagne cognac from Pierre Ferrand, finished in ex-Banyuls fortified wine casks. The eaux-de-vie are initially aged for 7 to 10 years in French Limousin oak, then finished for about a year in ex-Banyuls casks, and bottled at 42.3% ABV.
The nose shows dried and stewed fruits, incense, cinnamon, vanilla, walnuts and toasted wood, with rancio notes of cocoa, leather and tobacco. The palate has stewed apples, dried figs, cherries, berries and apricot jam with soft oak and dessert-wine sweetness, alongside liquorice, clove, cinnamon, chocolate, walnut and coffee. The finish is long, warm and nutty, with lingering sweet-tart fruit and gentle barrel spices.
