Plantation Guatemala VSOR 2023 Red Madeira Finish XO is a single cask rum from Guatemala, distilled from molasses by Destiladora de Alcoholes y Rones. It was aged for three years in American bourbon barrels, then finished for four years in Ferrand casks and eight months in red Madeira casks. The rum is bottled at 49.4% vol in a 700 ml bottle.
The nose opens with spice, then ripe apricots, apricot brandy and surprising salt notes. The palate shows balanced fruit sweetness, ripe apricots, roasted almonds and anise.
