Planteray Belize 2008 15 Year Old Single Cask Rum (75cl, 48.3%)

Planteray Belize 2008 is a single cask rum made from molasses at Travellers Liquors Limited, fermented for three to four days and distilled in a multi-column still in 2008. It is bottled at 48.3% as Vintage Collection No. 3, a limited edition drawn from 19 casks. The rum spent 13 years ageing in 200-litre bourbon casks in Belize City, then two more years in 350-litre Ferrand casks in Javrezac, France. The nose opens with old bourbon character, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, roasted almonds, leather, honey and banana. On the palate come citrus, pear, caramel, coconut, pepper, cloves, liquorice and tobacco. The finish is long, with dried fruit, cherry, vanilla, coffee and gentle vegetal notes.
