Platte Valley Corn Whiskey is a moonshine made in Missouri by the McCormick distillery, founded in 1856. It is made from corn alone and, unlike most moonshine, it is aged, spending 3 years in American oak casks.
It comes in a ceramic bottle that recalls the old jugs used for bootleg liquor during Prohibition.
The nose is distinctly sweet, with butter, milk, corn and a touch of marshmallow. The palate is also sweet and intense, with hints of caramel and almond.
