Pōkeno – Alchemy New Zealand Single Malt Whisky (70cl, 46%)

Pōkeno Alchemy is a New Zealand single malt from Pōkeno Whisky Co., bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is made with locally grown barley and volcanic spring water from the North Island, and matured in first-fill bourbon, oloroso sherry and Pedro Ximénez casks before the parcels are married together. The Pedro Ximénez casks bring raisin and caramelised fruit, while the oloroso adds nutty notes and spice. The nose shows dark chocolate, ripe cherries, dried fruit and sweet citrus, with vanilla, toasted nuts and baking spice. On the palate come black forest gâteau, caramel, orange peel and sherried fruit, with creamy malt and subtle oak spice. The finish is long, with cocoa, dark cherry, sweet spice and gentle citrus.
