Pōkeno Origin is a single malt from the Waikato region of New Zealand's North Island, bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
It is made from locally grown barley and spring water from the surrounding hills, and matured entirely in first-fill bourbon casks. The warmer New Zealand climate speeds maturation, and the bourbon influence is present without overpowering the fruit of the spirit.
The nose is sweet and fruity, with honey, grapefruit, citrus peel and soft vanilla. The palate is creamy, with toffee, vanilla bean, sweet malt and tropical fruit. The finish is long and gently sweet, with grapefruit, caramel and soft oak spice.
