Port Askaig 100 Proof is a strongly smoky Islay single malt bottled at 57.1% ABV, the strength that 100 Proof denotes. It matures only in unrinsed first-fill bourbon casks, and each small batch draws on whisky from around 60 casks. It is not chill-filtered and has no added colour.
The nose has buttered rye bread and honeyed lemon peel beneath dark coal smoke and milk chocolate, with ripe apple and vanilla. On the palate, ginger and citrus meet peat smoke and caramel sweetness, with pepper and maritime notes. The long finish turns herbal, with aniseed, raspberry leaf, chocolate-centred lime sweets and lingering smoke.
