Port Askaig 25 Year Old Islay Single Malt (70cl, 45.8%)

Port Askaig 25 Year Old is an Islay single malt from the independent bottler Elixir Distillers, drawn from a batch of Islay casks chosen for flavour and full texture. It is bottled at 45.8%, non-chill-filtered and without added colour, in a 70cl bottle. Strong peat and coal smoke meet tropical fruit, floral notes, leather and spice. The nose opens with coal smoke, pineapple, lychee, guava and unripe banana, followed by florals, peach and burnt matches, with cherry appearing when water is added. The palate is full and savoury, with pastrami, cured sausage, rye crackers, grilled vegetables, soft leather, nutmeg and grapefruit. The long finish carries herbs, dry wood smoke, thyme, bay and lingering warmth.
