A 14-year-old Port Charlotte, distilled in 2008 at Bruichladdich on Islay and matured in a single bourbon barrel. It is one of 150 bottles, in a 70cl bottle, from Claxton's Warehouse No.1 series.
Port Charlotte is Bruichladdich's heavily peated single malt, with a peating level of around 40ppm.
The nose suggests a good cheese shop, with brine, seaweed and musk. Sweet peat opens the palate before oak, vanilla and more brine, and the long, oak-driven finish leaves seaweed in the aftertaste.
