Port Charlotte PC9 is a peated Islay single malt made at Bruichladdich, in a style inspired by the old Port Charlotte distillery, which closed in 1929. It was distilled in 2002 and bottled in 2011 after nine years, mainly in American bourbon casks, at an unreduced 59.2% ABV. Only 6,000 bottles were filled, in a 70cl size. Its second name, An Ataireachd Ard, is Gaelic for the sound of the surf and comes from a poem by Donald MacIver. The nose is powerfully smoky, with bacon, pepper, iodine and nutmeg. The palate is rich and robust, with malted cereals, smoked ham and coffee. The finish is long, salty, smoky and spicy.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
