Port Charlotte PMC: 01 is part of the Cask Exploration Series, a limited Islay single malt distilled in 2013 and bottled in 2023 at 54.5% ABV.
It spent four years in ex-bourbon casks, followed by five years in ex-Pomerol wine casks.
The nose combines red fruit such as berries and strawberries with smoke, oak, malt and a medicinal touch. The palate is full and harmonious, with dried fruit, peat, spice, dark chocolate and tannins. The finish is long, with chocolate, mint and wood.
