Roulette Rye is a straight rye whiskey from Proof & Wood Ventures, an independent blender and bottler founded in 2015 by Dave Schmier. It was distilled at MGP in Indiana and bottled in Bardstown, Kentucky, at 50% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
The mash bill is 95% rye and 5% malted barley, and the whiskey is aged for a minimum of three to four years in 53-gallon barrels. It is bottled in small batches and is non-chill filtered.
The nose offers orange marmalade, fresh thyme and clove. The palate is full and waxy, with cherry, dark fruit, rye spice and pleasant tannin, and the finish brings black pepper, rosemary and browned butter.
