The inaugural release in Pinhook's nine year Vertical Series, which follows one group of barrels from four years old to twelve. This Kentucky straight bourbon was distilled at MGP in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, on a mashbill of 75% corn, 20.5% rye and 4.5% malted barley, and aged four years in new charred oak.
Around 150 barrels were blended and proofed to 98 (49%) at Castle and Key in Frankfort. Named for the colt Bourbon War, it shows bright tropical fruit, butterscotch and cedar on the nose, with spritzy citrus. The palate is rich and vibrant, with dried fig and cocoa.
