A barrel proof straight rye from MGP's Rossville Union brand, made at its distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. It is bottled uncut at 56.3% (112.6 proof), and this batch was blended from 83 barrels.
It combines MGP's two rye mashbills, a 51% rye recipe and a 95% rye recipe, aged in new charred American oak for an average of five to six years.
The nose offers pure rye spice, straw, citrus and summer fruits. On the palate, hefty rye spice sits alongside fresh baked bread, apricot, candied fruits and caramel, with a pleasant sweetness underneath. The finish is long, peppery and lightly smoky.
