Deadwood Tumblin' Dice is a three year old straight bourbon from Proof and Wood Ventures, the bottler founded by Dave Schmier. It was distilled at MGP in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and bottled in Bardstown, Kentucky, at 50% in a 75cl bottle.
The mashbill is a high rye one of 60 percent corn, 36 percent rye and 4 percent malted barley, and the whiskey was aged in new charred American oak.
The nose is sweet and oaky, with spice, dark fruit, char and cocoa. The palate brings peanut brittle, oak, dried dark fruit, baking spices and a little vanilla and citrus. The finish is long and warming, with rustic spice, oak, pepper and dark fruit.
