Proper No. Twelve is an Irish blend of grain whiskey and single malt, triple-distilled at the Old Bushmills Distillery in County Antrim and bottled at 40% in a 375ml bottle. It is matured in ex-bourbon barrels.
The recipe was settled after close to 100 blend trials overseen by master distiller David Elder, and the whiskey won a gold medal at the 2020 USA Spirits Ratings.
The nose offers ripe pear, honey, warm vanilla and gentle floral hints. The palate is soft and honeyed, with baked apple, caramel, vanilla and a little pepper. The finish is medium in length, with toasted wood and lingering vanilla.
