Proper No. Twelve is a triple-distilled blended Irish whiskey from Old Bushmills Distillery in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It combines golden grain whiskey with single malt, matured in ex-bourbon casks.
Close to 100 blends were created and evaluated before the final liquid was chosen. It won a Gold Medal and 91 points at the 2020 USA Spirits Ratings, and a Gold Medal at the 2020 Bartender Spirits Awards.
Vanilla pod, honeysuckle, floral barley and a hint of lime lead the nose. The palate brings apple sweetness, then honey and a touch of white pepper. The finish is medium in length, with toasted oak and soft caramel.
