Puni – Gold 5 Year Old (2018) (70cl, 43%)

This is an Italian single malt from Puni, from South Tyrol, and the base of the Puni range. It matured for five years in ex-bourbon casks and was bottled in 2018 at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The bourbon wood influence is classic and controlled, with vanilla, light honey and a soft oak structure, and there are no pronounced wine or sherry influences. The nose is light malt, vanilla, apple and soft honey. The palate is fresh and round, with grain, light caramel, vanilla and subtle oak. The finish is medium-long, clean and slightly malty, with a dry note.
