PUNI Gold is a five-year-old Italian malt whisky from the PUNI distillery, made from barley, wheat and rye malt. It matured only in first-fill ex-bourbon casks, in above-ground warehouses where the swing between summer and winter temperatures is pronounced.
It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. The whisky keeps its natural golden colour and is not chill-filtered.
The nose opens with sweet vanilla and a light rye note, then honey, mango and spicy oak. The palate is led by sweet summer fruit, including strawberry, raspberry and mango, with light pepper, vanilla and fine oak spice. The finish is long, fruity and sweet, closing with a touch of black pepper.
