Puni – Sole (70cl, 46%)

Puni Sole is an Italian single malt from the Puni distillery, founded by the Ebensperger family in Glurns, South Tyrol. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtration or added colour. The whisky is matured in American ex-bourbon casks and Spanish Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. Its name means sun in Italian and refers to how the sweet sherry is made: the grapes dry in the sun after harvest, which concentrates their sugar. The nose is fresh and clear, with fruit, honey, vanilla and citrus. On the palate come blood orange and forest honey, balanced by malt and spicy oak, with walnut and ripe honeydew melon. The finish is medium in length.
