Pure Kentucky XO is a small batch Kentucky straight bourbon from the Willett Distillery, also known as Kentucky Bourbon Distillers, in Bardstown. The XO on the label stands for extra old.
It is made from a blend of mash bills aged separately in new charred number four American oak barrels, then married after maturation and hand bottled at 107 proof (53.5% ABV) in a 750ml bottle.
The nose is sweet vanilla, cedar, toffee and oak. The palate is full bodied, with spicy rye, vanilla, maple syrup, caramel, cinnamon and a hint of cherry. The finish is long and smooth, slightly salty, with more vanilla and oak.
