Ratu 5 Year Spiced is a Fijian spiced rum at 40% ABV, in a 75cl bottle, made by the Rum Co. of Fiji in Lautoka.
The rum is made from hand-cut Fijian sugar cane and filtered through coconut shell charcoal before it goes into charred oak barrels, where it ages for five years. Star anise, cinnamon, vanilla and citrus are added to the aged base.
Glazed orange, smoked oak and vanilla lead on the nose, with toffee and caramel. The palate is smooth and rounded, with caramel, candied orange and liquorice set against cinnamon and star anise. The finish is long and warm.
