This is a single barrel wheated bourbon from Rebel, made at Lux Row Distillers in Bardstown, Kentucky. It comes from the Distiller's Collection and is bottled at barrel proof, 56.5% ABV, in a 750ml bottle.
The mashbill is 68% corn, 20% wheat and 12% malted barley, with wheat taking the place of the more usual rye. The strength was chosen by the Head Distiller as the point where the Rebel range tastes smoothest.
The nose offers honey, fresh wheat bread, mint and butterscotch, with dried pineapple and tobacco leaf beneath. The palate is hot and sweet, with honey, maple syrup and roasted peanuts, then cinnamon and dark chocolate. The finish is long and warming, led by cinnamon candy and honey.
