This is Rémy Martin XO, a Fine Champagne cognac blended from eaux-de-vie of the Grande and Petite Champagne crus, in a limited and numbered edition. It marks the first reinterpretation of the XO decanter since its creation in 1981, by British designer Lee Broom.
Broom cut hundreds of fine starburst facets into the decanter, each standing for one of the eaux-de-vie in the blend. The edition was made with the serve over ice in mind.
The nose brings plum, mature fig and candied orange, opening on spice. The palate is spicy, with cinnamon and freshly crushed hazelnut, and the finish is long, with roasted cocoa, honey and ginger. It is bottled at 40% in a 70cl decanter.
