A 12-year-old Highland single malt from Royal Lochnagar, matured in bourbon and sherry casks and bottled at 40%. It is an original bottling in the Classic Malts Selection.
Fruit and light toffee meet fresh wood notes, and the whisky moves from early sweetness towards growing acidity. The nose is reserved at first, with planed wood, light toffee and a hint of boat varnish, then linseed oil and a lychee-like sharpness. The palate is medium-bodied and smooth, and the finish is medium, dry and clearly defined, with sandalwood.
