Royal Lochnagar – 30 Year Old 1974 Rare Malts Selection (70cl, 56.2%)

A limited edition Highland single malt from Royal Lochnagar in the Rare Malts Selection. It was distilled in 1974 and released in autumn 2004 at 30 years old, at a natural cask strength of 56.2% ABV. The colour is pale straw. The nose is spirity and grassy, with hay, straw and a mineral note. The palate is bold, sweet and spirity, with pepper from the start that builds through cooked apple and peach, and burnt caramel appears later. The finish is long and very powerful.
