Royal Reserve is a Canadian rye whisky in a 75cl PET bottle, with roots in the cocktail years of the 1960s and 70s. Corby Spirit and Wine produces it at the Hiram Walker & Sons Distillery in Windsor, Ontario.
It is a blend with a light, smooth profile, and it works both neat and in highballs.
The colour is light golden amber. The nose has honey, vanilla and caramel, with rye grain, toasted almond and a little clove. On the palate, corn, toffee and caramelised sugar meet a peppery rye bite and crisp lemon zest. The finish is clean, warm and of medium length, ending in soft vanilla and toasted oak.
