Sazerac Rye is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey from Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, bottled at 45% in a 75cl bottle after six years in new, charred American oak barrels. The mashbill is mostly rye, with corn and malted barley.
Its name comes from the Sazerac Coffee House in New Orleans, where America's first branded cocktail was created in the 1800s.
The nose is fresh cloves, vanilla and anise, with candied spice and citrus. The palate is bold rye spice with caramel, vanilla and orange peel, moving to oak and pepper. The finish is medium to long, with warming rye spice, cinnamon and dry oak.
