Sazerac Rye is a six-year-old straight rye whiskey bottled at 45%, produced at the Buffalo Trace distillery in Kentucky. It is tied to the history of New Orleans in the 1800s. The Sazerac cocktail was first made at the Sazerac Coffee House with cognac from the house of Sazerac de Forge et Fils, and over time rye whiskey replaced the cognac as the main ingredient, eventually taking the cocktail's name.
