Sazerac Rye is an American rye whisky made at the Buffalo Trace distillery in Kentucky. It takes its name from the Sazerac cocktail and the New Orleans of the 1800s.
That cocktail was first mixed at the Sazerac Coffee House using cognac from the house of Sazerac de Forge et Fils. Over time rye whisky replaced the cognac as the main ingredient.
The whisky is aged in oak casks and is described as robust and spicy, with complex aromas and a rich flavour.
