Scapa Glansa is an Orkney single malt at 40% vol in a 70cl bottle, from batch GL06. The spirit first matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks and was then finished in casks from Islay.
It is the first Scapa with a light smokiness, which comes from those Islay casks rather than from peated barley.
The nose is fruity, with some pineapple, caramel and honey, and the smoke stays in the background. The palate is fruity and honeyed, spicy, with Scapa's typical saltiness and now noticeable smoke. The finish is long, harmonious and very spicy, with more smoke.
