Scapa The Orcadian is a 16-year-old Orkney single malt, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. Scapa takes its name from a Norse word meaning boat, and its water, with a distinctly heathery character, comes from the Lingro Burn.
It is one of the most northerly and smallest distilleries, working with just two pot stills. The whisky matures on the island in warehouses right beside Scapa Flow. The nose is sweet and silky, with clementines and heather honey. The palate is well balanced and rich, with a hint of ginger and caramelised apples. The finish is warm and long, with a slight touch of the sea.
