This is an Islay single malt from the Scarabus range, bottled at 57% in a 70cl bottle. It is a limited special edition drawn from Batch 1, made from a small group of casks that Hunter Laing selected for the Batch Strength series.
The whisky was finished in Bordeaux Grand Cru wine casks. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour.
On the nose there are dark berries, cassis and red grapes with vanilla, toffee and spicy oak. The palate brings stewed plum and ripe cherry alongside cinnamon, chocolate, sweet oak and a hint of leather. The finish is long, with fruity warmth, fine spice and a slightly tannic edge.
