Scarabus Islay Single Malt Sherry Cask (70cl, 46%)

Scarabus Sherry Cask is an Islay single malt bottled by Hunter Laing. This limited edition was made with Hanseatische Weinhandelsgesellschaft Bremen for its 50th anniversary, exclusively for the German market. Whisky from bourbon casks and first-fill sherry casks was vatted, and part of it matured entirely in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks, so the sherry influence is not only a finish. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtering or added colour. The nose combines Islay peat smoke, dark berries and sea salt. Warming leather and a chocolate-like sweetness follow on the palate, and the finish is rich, fruity and long.
