This is a 10-year-old Islay single malt in the &Whisky range, bottled by Atom Labs. All of the whisky is finished in sherry casks, and the sweetness of the sherry softens the strong peat character without displacing it. It is bottled at 40% ABV, non-chill-filtered and without added colour.
The nose combines oat biscuits, vegetal peat and blackcurrant with grilled meat and molasses, plus clove-studded orange and a hint of chocolate mousse. Airy caramel sweets and cinnamon meet clearly present peat on the palate, followed by red grape, jammy raisin, citrus and a little singed hay. The finish returns to meaty malt with warm oak and lingering grape tannins.
