Shackleton Blended Malt (70cl, 40%)

Shackleton Blended Malt is a Scotch blended malt from Whyte & Mackay, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. Master blender Richard Paterson built it on his 2011 reconstruction of the Mackinlay's whisky that Ernest Shackleton ordered for his 1907 Antarctic expedition. More than 20 Highland single malts are married in ex-bourbon and sherry casks. Colouring is added and the whisky is chill-filtered. The nose brings vanilla, toffee apple, cinnamon and ginger. Dark sugar, sweet dried fruit and glazed pineapple lead the palate, and the finish recalls mulled wine and chocolate pralines, with a trace of campfire smoke.
