This is a single malt from the Shindo Distillery, selected and bottled by Rudder Ltd. as the 22nd release in its Seek the Ultimate series. Hyakusei Fumetsu means something that will not wear down even after a hundred generations. The main malt is aged in Mizunara oak casks.
Shindo is run by Shinozaki Co., Ltd., which has brewed sake since the Edo period and started as Shinozaki Shoten in 1922.
The nose has peach tea, leather, resin, nutmeg and white pepper, then dried apricot and candied fruit. The palate shows walnut, coconut, berry fruit, chocolate-covered orange and nectarine. The finish brings plum, royal milk tea, sandalwood incense, cinnamon and ginger.
