Singleton 18 Year Old Sublimely Smooth

An 18 year old single malt from the Singleton of Dufftown distillery, matured in refill ex-bourbon casks and Pedro Ximenez Oloroso casks. The whisky is a deep amber colour. The nose brings stewed fruit such as apricots and apples, rich berries, toasted hazelnuts and walnuts, dried tea leaves and fresh pine resin, with vanilla, toffee, chocolate and caramel beneath. The palate is dry and sweet, led by nuts, dark toffee and gentle mint, with rhubarb and apple juice, then a silky cocoa bitterness. The finish is sweet, with drying oak, stewed fresh fruit, a little wood smoke and black pepper.
