This is a 14 year old Singleton of Glen Ord from the Highlands, released as Autumn Walk in the 2024 Diageo Special Releases. It comes in a 70cl bottle at 54.7% ABV, non-chill-filtered and without added colour. The whisky matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks, and part of the batch then received an extra finish in cask ends of Pyrenean and Spanish oak. Master blender Craig Wilson aimed for a drier, spicier character than the distillery's usual house style. The nose is soft, with orange cream filling turning to orange sponge cake and a little vanilla. The palate is creamy, moving from sweetness to bitter orange peel and peppery heat, and the finish is long, warming and spicy.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Soft and gentle, orange cream filling developing into orange sponge cake with a touch of vanilla

Palate

Creamy texture, sweetness at the centre of the palate, then tart bitter orange peel, drying to fiery pepper

Finish

Long, warming and spicy, with a cooling aftertaste

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
