This is the third Distillers Choice from Slyrs, a German single malt distilled in 2018. It matured first in new American white oak, then spent a further 18 months in casks that previously held Moscatel sherry. The edition was overseen by cask manager Andreas Flossmann and is limited to 910 bottles at 49.4%. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
The nose is sweet, with honey and ripe apricot, plus floral notes and a little vanilla. On the palate raisins and dried figs meet fresh citrus and well-integrated oak. The finish is long, soft and gently warming, with sweet fruit, light oak and a hint of vanilla.
