Slyrs – Single Malt Oloroso Cask Finish (70cl, 46%)

This is a Bavarian single malt from the Slyrs distillery at Schliersee in Upper Bavaria, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle without added colour. The whisky first matures in American white oak, then moves into former Oloroso sherry casks of 450 to 500 litres, where it spends roughly another year. The casks come from Bodegas Tradición in Jerez, and the finish adds fruit and wood notes along with a nutty character. The nose combines nuts and dried fruit with a slightly dry impression. The palate is full and layered, with tobacco and leather emerging alongside light roasted notes. The finish is long, soft and varied.
